Second Beach (Pantai 2) Tanjung Aru — Quieter Sand & Shade

Second Beach, also written Tanjung Aru Beach 2 or Pantai 2, is the middle section of the shoreline. It is noticeably quieter than First Beach and is the local favourite for a relaxed picnic or an evening stroll.
Casuarina (ru) trees line the back of the beach and give natural shade through the afternoon, which is why many families set up here rather than on the open First Beach lawn.
Why choose Pantai 2
If your priority is a peaceful spot to lay a mat, read a book or let children play without the bustle of the food court, Second Beach fits. The sand is the same continuous beach, just with fewer stalls.
Bring your own water and snacks — there are far fewer vendors here than on First Beach, and the nearest toilets and food are a short walk back toward the main entrance.
Getting to Second Beach
From the First Beach entrance, follow the shoreline south on foot; the walk is flat and takes only a few minutes. A Grab or taxi will usually drop you at the main gate, from where you walk in.

Beach access at Tanjung Aru is free; there is no ticket gate. You may pay only for parking if you drive.
Which beach is best for families?+
First Beach has the playground and stalls within steps; Second Beach is better if you want shade and quiet. Many families split the difference by picnicing on Pantai 2 and walking to First Beach for food.
